Medicines use evaluations
Medicines use evaluations (MUEs) are structured quality improvement activities that assess and improve how medicines are used in clinical practice. They compare current practice against evidence-based standards, guidelines and policy to identify ways to reduce unwarranted variation, strengthen safety and effectiveness, and improve patient outcomes.
Download the Medicines Use Evaluation (MUE) Framework (PDF 316.5 KB) for practical guidance to support health services to plan and undertake local MUEs.
Statewide MUEs
- Letermovir for prophylaxis of CMV infection in adult alloHSCT recipients who are CMV seropositive (R+) with a CMV seronegative donor (D–), for up to 100 days post-transplant.
- A retrospective review of melatonin prescribed to patients during an inpatient hospital stay.
