Dr Michelle Mulligan OAM

Chair

Michelle is a Specialist Anaesthetist and Executive Clinical Director, Northern Sydney Local Health District. She brings extensive leadership in clinical governance, policy, perioperative care and health system management, alongside significant Board experience. Michelle contributes to strengthening clinical governance across NSW, with a focus on improving safety and outcomes for all patients, particularly in perioperative care.

Adjunct Professor Michael C. Nicholl

Chief Executive (ex-officio Board member)

Michael is Chief Executive of the Clinical Excellence Commission and a former specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist. He brings more than 40 years’ experience as a clinician, health leader and advisor, with deep expertise in patient safety, clinical governance and system-wide risk management, across NSW Health and national safety organisations. Michael supports system-wide efforts to reduce harm and strengthen how health services identify, manage and respond to safety risks.

Mr Scott Griffiths PSM

Scott is the former Chair of the Western NSW Local Health District Board and has held senior leadership roles across regional NSW government and human services. He brings strong experience in governance, regional service delivery, and cross-sector collaboration. Scott brings a strong focus on governance and cross-sector collaboration to support improved outcomes for regional communities.

Dr Bruce Hodge

Bruce is a specialist general surgeon based in regional NSW and Director of Surgery for the Mid North Coast Local Health District. He brings extensive experience in surgical services, clinical governance and quality improvement, particularly in regional and rural settings. Bruce contributes to improving surgical quality and outcomes, with a strong focus on the challenges facing rural and regional health services.

Melissa O'Brien

Melissa is Executive Director of Clinical Governance at Hunter New England Local Health District and an experienced nurse leader. She brings strong expertise in clinical governance, patient safety and leading multidisciplinary teams to improve care quality. Melissa supports strong clinical governance and a focus on safe, high-quality, patient-centred care across health services.

Vickie Parry

Vickie is a proud Gamilaraay/Gomeroi woman and Chief Executive Officer of Barang Regional Alliance Ltd. She brings strong leadership in Aboriginal community engagement, governance and advocacy, with a focus on partnership and equity. Vickie contributes to advancing culturally safe, inclusive care and improving outcomes for Aboriginal communities.

Luke Sloane

Luke is the Deputy Secretary for Rural and Regional Health and State Health Services Functional Area Coordinator. Born and raised in Orange, he brings more than 20 years of clinical experience and a strong commitment to system performance, safety, and improving access and outcomes for regional communities.
