AMS Forum 2015

On Friday 4th September 2015, the CEC Quality Use of Antimicrobials in Healthcare program hosted a symposium-style education and networking forum on the topic of antimicrobial stewardship. This event was attended by one hundred delegates, representing pharmacists, doctors, microbiologists, nurses and quality and safety professionals from both rural and regional areas. The vast majority of attendees were from public hospitals within NSW local health districts and networks, with other guests representing private and interstate health services.

Presentations delivered at this event covered a wide variety of topics including national and NSW initiatives for AMS, methods for monitoring the quantity and quality of antimicrobial use, factors which influence antimicrobial prescribing and the future of AMS within the context of electronic medication management. The event also launched the 5x5 Antimicrobial Audit; a targeted audit, intervention and feedback activity developed by the CEC and piloted by 15 NSW facilities during 2014-15.
