The National Stewardship Statement for the Supply of Blood and Blood Products was signed in November 2010 and outlines the expectations for responsible, sustainable and appropriate use of blood and blood products at every level of the blood sector.
New South Wales
Governance arrangements and responsibilities in NSW are currently under review. All public health facilities in NSW that provide transfusion therapy must have effective systems and procedures in place to ensure safe and appropriate use of blood and blood products. Facilities that provide blood and blood products in any clinical environment must undergo accreditation using the NSQHS Standards framework (including Standard 7: Blood and Blood Products.)
